How merch syncing works

Finding products on your platforms

After connecting a merch platform, we’ll import all of your products from it. After that, we’ll sync with it nightly to add new products and remove any you’ve deleted.

Adding products to your website

When a new product is found on a platform, we’ll try to match it to an existing product on your site by UPC and name. If we can’t, we’ll create a new product.

Setting details on your products

Each platform provides different details about your product, so when a platform knows something about your product that we don’t, we’ll apply it first-come-first-serve.

Reviewing your merch

Sometimes the details we get from a platform may be a little off, or may be wrong entirely. So it’s always a good idea to review your products to make sure everything looks good.

  • Image - The product’s image. Should be high resolution.
  • Name - The product’s title. Keep it formatted exactly as it appears on platforms.
  • URL slug - The unique part of the product’s URL. ex: /merch/your-product
  • Type - The type of product it is (Viny, Apparel, etc.). Set by Supertape initially.
  • Price - The lowest price of the product on any of your platforms.
  • Release date - The date the product was released. Determines its order in your inventory.
  • UPC - The Universal Product Code for the product. Important for matching.
  • Info - The product’s description, credits, lyrics, or any other information you’d like to share.
  • Album - The album the product is a physical version of, if applicable.
  • Platforms - The Platforms where fans can purchase the product.
If something we synced is wrong, it’s likely wrong on the platform as well. Be sure to fix both.

Reordering your merch

By default we order your products by release date, but you can manually reorder them as well.

  1. Visit Merch and select Edit in the top right.
  2. Drag the handle of any product into the desired order.
  3. Hit Save.

Sharing a product

Share your product’s smart link with fans, so they can purchase on their favorite platform:

  1. Visit Merch and find the product you’d like to share.
  2. Select Share from the top right and then hit Copy to copy the link to your clipboard.
  3. Share the link on social media, in email campaigns, ads, or anywhere else.

Or share a direct link to your product on a specific platform:

  1. Visit Merch and find the product you’d like to share.
  2. Scroll to Platforms, find the platform, hit the three dots and Share.
  3. Copy the link and share it on social media, in email campaigns, ads, or anywhere else.
You can also share new products from the Share section.

Posting a product to your homepage

Bring your product front and center to fans visiting your site by posting it to your homepage:

  1. Visit Merch and find the product you’d like to post.
  2. Select Post from the top right.
  3. Add a short message, optionally change the image, and hit Save.
You can also post products from the Posts section.

Editing a product

Edit your product’s details:

  1. Visit Merch and find the product you’d like to edit.
  2. Select Edit from the top right.
  3. Make your changes and hit Save.

Edit your product’s platforms:

  1. Visit Merch and find the product you’d like to edit.
  2. Scroll to the Platforms section, find the platform, hit the three dots and then Edit.
  3. Assign the platform to a different product, or have a new one added, and hit Save.

Hiding a product

If there’s a product you don’t want to show on your site, you can hide it:

  1. Visit Merch and find the product you’d like to hide.
  2. Select Hide from the top right.
You can hide multiple products at once by selecting Edit on the Merch section.

Unhiding a product

Bring a hidden product back onto your site at any time:

  1. Visit Merch and hit Filter in the top right.
  2. Select Hidden from the Status dropdown.
  3. Select the product you’d like to unhide and hit Unhide in the top right.
You can unhide multiple products at once by selecting Edit on the Merch section.
