Fixing broken links

If you've had a website prior to joining Supertape, it's likely that website had a bunch of different pages and URL structures that don't match perfectly with your new site.

Or maybe you decided to change the slug of something in your inventory, after sharing links to the old URL all over social media, email newsletters, or printed media.

The best way to ensure your old links can still get fans and search engines where they're trying to go is to redirect them using a free Cloudflare account.

Cloudflare makes it possible to redirect single URLs like /contact.html to /info, or bulk URL patterns like /collections/albums/* to /music/*. Here's how:

  1. Sign up or sign in to a Cloudflare account and select your website.

  2. Visit Rules > Redirect Rules in the sidebar.

  3. Follow their instructions to create either a single or bulk redirect rule.

  4. 4. Once finished, hit Save and Deploy for your changes to go live.

  5. Test your redirects in a browser to make sure it's working as intended.
